My mom gave me this recipe. It’s a dangerous recipe.
These cookies are addictive. That’s a bad thing. Especially when you take a look at the ingredients below. It takes skill to resist eating 20 of these cookies.
The photo below is of the cookies with just the chocolate coating, but you can really dress them up. I like to toast almond slices and top on the chocolate, or sprinkles, coconut, anything your heart desires. Come Christmas, you can top with chopped up peppermint. They really do make a lovely display.
Chocolate Dipped Butter Cookies
Servings: About 30 cookies
4 c. flour
2 c. soft butter
1 c. confectioners sugar
Bakers Chocolate squares
Mix first three ingredients together. Shape the dough into 2 inch logs and place on un-greased cookie sheets at 375 degrees until a light golden color. Cool completely.
Melt chocolate on a double broiler or in the microwave. You can add Crisco to make the chocolate more drippy. Dip half of the cookie in the chocolate at an angle.
Place on a rack to dry. If you want to add your toppings, add them quickly after you dip in the chocolate.
